Pitching an Idea

It doesn’t matter if you are pitching an idea to someone over the phone, in person, or over the computer, you always need to follow some important guidelines. If you want to pitch an idea to the media, here’s what you should do:

-Always have the right facts, be fair, be honest, and be friendly.

-Do whatever you can to not be boring.

-Be familiar with the media organization you are contacting.

-Know your subject inside and out.

-Always follow up with people.

-Be cool and never lose your temper.

-Try not to get cold feet, you have to be the one who is making a move.

-If you are nervous, learn to use that as a benefit.

-Make sure that the people you pitch to understand you clearly.

-Prepare yourself for any questions you may have from the person you have pitched to.

-Have fun
