Targeting the right people with your advertisements | Internet Marketing Help for Small Businesses

Target your Ads to the Right People

On the internet there are a lot of direct responses to ads and products. Over half of people buying items do so within their first 1/2 hour on the site. This will be the same with visitors to your website.

What you can take from this is that you have around a half hour to convince your traffic to buy your product. If they don’t buy in that time period then the chances they will buy are pretty slim. However, it was also discovered that when people saw an ad several times that their rate of purchase was higher then people just going to the web site and looking around. How is the web is a direct marketing channel?

Post-click through conversion numbers are continuing to increase. Of all the conversions almost half were people who had previously purchased something. Even though keyword placements are more expensive they achieve the best click through number. This means whatever words you looked up in a search engine will produce ads or banners for that item on your results pages.

What can be presumed from this information?

  • Sites are improving their direct marketing methods
  • Targeted ads work the best
  • People will buy solely on what brand they like
  • Previous buyers will probably purchase on another occasion
  • So it is proven that direct and targeted marketing, when used together, produce the most buyers. However, if you don’t have a site that provokes its visitors to purchase quickly will have to rely heavily on selling name brands to produce sales. For huge companies, all they need to sell is a name. For smaller ones this isn’t so and targeted marketing should be used.
