While networking to gain new business interests works well it takes up a lot of time and takes a while. You could always go the route of going to mixers, leads groups, events, or network online.
One type of networking opportunity might not suit another. Whichever ones you do decide to go to need to have people in your target market or people who work/own businesses that are beneficial to you. Try doing a couple different ones.
Many associations will let you come to a couple meetings before joining for sure. If you feel comfortable and can get what you want out of it for your business then go ahead and join. Don’t just join and not put any effort in, you should get pretty involved and get to know as many people as you can.
Develop relationships first with people and then talk business. If you talk business too soon you will turn people off. Be friendly and sincere before making deals.
