Trading links is one of the top ways to build traffic at your website. A reciprocal link is when two sites agree to host a link to each other on their respective sites. Most times they are placed on a particular page designated for links, but they can be in other places.
People sometimes have a hard time finding sites to exchange links with, so I have developed a guide.
1. Find out the profile of your target audience. Who are they? What are they interested in?
2. Once you have these details you can guesstimate where your market spends its time on the internet and what sites they go to.
3. Check out these sites and decide which to approach for a link exchange. Look on the site to see if they have a special section for links.
4. Contact each webmaster, or whomever is in charge of the site. When you write to them comment on their site and establish your legitimacy so they do not think your email is junk.
5. Tell them you would like to do and exchange and why. They will want to know why the exchange will be beneficial for them. Both of your site’s contents should be related in some way. Try to include a sample of the copy you would like to go with your link and ask what they would like for their site.
If you want to find more exchange partners:
1. Visit a few search engines and search the terms your target market could use when looking for a site like yours.
2. Go to the top ranked sites on each of the searches and decide if it would fit your target profile, and if they have links. Then try to contact them.
The more inbound links you have the better your site will be ranked, so get on point and start adding reciprocal links!
